Loose-set laminated fiber optic cable underwater has good tensile strength, lateral compression resistance and excellent mechanical properties, and can be well adapted to the surrounding working environment. The small diameter and light weight, combined with good tensile strength and lateral compression resistance, make them suitable for underwater working environments and are used to connect communication equipment and persistent information systems.
Loose-sleeved laminated stranded underwater fiber optic cables contain 5-36 optical fibers, consisting of a total of 3 layers of loose-sleeved tubing and filler around a central reinforcing key, plus a PE outer jacket. Each bundle contains 4-12 fibers, and solid or multi-stranded steel wire with polyethylene is usually used as the central reinforcement bond. If a metallic reinforcement bond is not required, FRP can be used as the center reinforcement bond. Spun sand or glass filaments are used around the bundle to provide protection and increase the tensile strength. The first layer of this cable is a PE inner jacket and crumpled steel tape armor, the second layer is a PE inner jacket and steel wire armor, followed by a PE outer jacket. Adding a layer of aluminum tape inside the sheath provides moisture resistance and shielding, and adding a cut cord inside the sheath facilitates the movement of the fiber optic cable.
