According to reports, the system is part of the Attica-Crete high-voltage DC interconnection system, with a total investment of up to 1 billion euros, which is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2024.
Italian cable manufacturer Prussian was awarded the supply contract for the project in 2020 for a total of 270 百万欧元. This includes the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of a €250 million high-voltage DC cable system. As well as a contract worth €20 million for the laying of submarine communication cables for the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of the system. The total length is 670 公里.
According to the report, the system is designed to transmit 1,000 MW of power. Prysmian will use its own vessels to install the 海底电缆. The delivery and commissioning of both projects are scheduled for the period 2020-2023.
